I'm Nilay, a developer. I build web apps, tools and small products. This notebook covers the errors and tools developers are searching for right now: what the error really means, the fix that works, and the exact versions it was checked on.
How every post is made
- Reproduced on a real machine. Each error is triggered for real in a clean project, with the exact versions listed at the top of the post. If it can't be reproduced, it doesn't get a post.
- The fix is verified. The fix is applied and the project is run again to confirm it works before anything is written.
- Real output, not paraphrase. Error messages, commands and numbers are copied from the actual run.
- Failures stay in. Fixes that people suggest but that didn't work are listed too.
How this site is written
I use AI assistance to research what people are searching for, reproduce the errors, and draft the posts. Every reproduction runs on a real machine; nothing in a "Tested on" box is made up. If that changes for a post, the post will say so.
Independence
No company pays for a verdict here. If a post ever contains an affiliate link or a sponsored product, it will say so at the top of the post, before the first link.
Corrections
Tools change fast and I will get things wrong. When I update a post, the date at the top changes to "Updated". If you find an error, tell me and I'll fix it.
